Flooded Hereford families live in fear of rain

Flooded Hereford families live in fear of rain

For most in a weather-obsessed country, rain is taken for granted – at worst, an inconvenience and something they’re used to.

However, a family exhausted and frustrated by the flooding is experiencing the wet weather differently. “We live our lives in fear,” they say. “It’s absolutely terrible.” They keep wondering, “Are we going to lose all our stuff again?”

But these are not people in houses built next to rivers that swell and overflow their banks. They live on an estate in new houses built less than a decade ago. And they blame the plumbing and drainage for several incidents, most recently in September.

Housing company David Wilson Homes Mercia insists infrastructure improvements will be made at its Hereford site.
