The City of Sheboygan is investigating a cyberattack and ransom demand

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – The city of Sheboygan has isolated its network and asked law enforcement to investigate a cyberattack involving ransom demands.

According to an initial statement, the city was made aware of a “potential problem” with its network three days ago. On Sunday, they provided an update saying that the investigation had found a breach by someone outside the government and that they had received a ransom note.

According to the city, there is no evidence that sensitive personal information was compromised.

In the latest press release, the City stated that it remains committed to maintaining our trust and safety standards and will provide updates.

The city said phone lines will remain open for residents who need assistance or access to city services. Please call City Main Line at 920-459-4000.

Assistant City Manager Marie Foss can be contacted for more information at 920-459-3287 or [email protected].
