This is how the anime series continues

Over 1000 episodes full of murders, ingenious gadgets, a souped-up skateboard – and not forgetting a detective who looks like a primary school student. We are of course talking about the anime series “Detective Conan”. In November she returns to German television and to Joyn.

The most important thing in brief

  • In “Detective Conan,” a brilliant 17-year-old who has shrunk to a grade school student goes undercover.

  • 483 episodes have been published in German so far. The broadcaster ProSiebenMAXX is working on bringing new episodes to German television.

  • ProSiebenMAXX will repeat from November 11, 2024, the series begins with episode 112.

  • You can see one episode from Monday to Friday at 6:55 p.m.

  • The episodes can be streamed on Joyn.

  • On Joyn you can also watch six films from the anime crime series!

This is what “Detective Conan” is all about

“There is only one truth, and I find it” – that is Shin’ichi Kudo’s maxim. The brilliant 17-year-old’s combination skills are already so well known in Tokyo that he officially helps the police. But one day he falls into the hands of the men in black. They give him a poison that is supposed to kill him without leaving a trace, but he is lucky in misfortune: the poison rejuvenates him. Shrunken to the size of an elementary school student, he assumes the identity of Conan Edogawa – and continues to investigate.

With a few tricks, he settles in with his girlfriend Ran. Her father, Kogoro Mori, is a terrible private investigator who suddenly solves the most complicated cases. Why? Because Conan anesthetizes him at the crucial moment using an anesthesia chronometer and uses a voice transposer – hidden in his bow tie – to solve the cases in Mori’s place. Disguised as an innocent elementary school student, he tried to track down the men in black.

“Detective Conan” has been on television in Japan since 1996. 1139 episodes (as of October 2024) and 27 films make the series one – if not the – longest-lasting crime series in the world. And also one of the most successful: the 27th film set a cinema ticket sales record in Japan. By the way: “Detective Conan” is not the only anime crime film. We have put together highlights for you here.

Long awaited: new episodes of “Detective Conan”

“Detective Conan” fans have staying power. The first episodes of the series were broadcast on German television in 2002, but in 2006 it ended with episode 333, “The Evidence Left Behind, Part 2”. It wasn’t until twelve years later that they were able to see parts 3 to 5 (yes, the story was designed as a five-parter!) when ProSieben MAXX brought new episodes to German television. After a hundred episodes there was another break of two years, after which 50 more were shown.

However, fans have been waiting for episode 484 since the beginning of 2023, but this time they are not in the middle of a multi-part episode. ProSieben MAXX commented on the topic in August at the Animagic trade fair: There Johanna Tübbing promised the gathered fans that she would definitely bring new episodes to the program. So the fans have to be patient, as patient and persistent as their favorite detective.

“Detective Conan” film series on Joyn

There are now six “Detective Conan” films on Joyn. And the anime fan can then plunge from mundane puzzles into supernatural ones, because the new series “Hell’s Paradise” sends you on the hunt for a means to immortality. However, it is hidden on an island from which no one has returned alive.
