Star Air will continue to expand Embraer fleet – Aviation.Direct

The Indian regional airline Star Air, based in Bangalore, has continued its growth since it was founded in 2019.

It currently serves 22 national destinations and operates eight aircraft, including the Embraer ERJ 145 and E175 models. By March 2026, Star Air plans to acquire six additional Embraer E175 jets to further expand its route network and better meet demand in regions with growing air traffic.

Star Air’s fleet expansion aims to strengthen regional connectivity in India, particularly as part of the government’s ‘Connecting Real India’ campaign to improve air connectivity for smaller cities. Additionally, Star Air’s fleet expansion will require more efficient maintenance and logistical adjustments as India’s aviation sector undergoes rapid expansion, which requires qualified personnel for maintenance and technical inspection. The new aircraft could be acquired through leasing financing, which should accelerate expansion despite the high acquisition costs.

This strategic expansion took into account Star Air’s ambitions to gain a stronger market position among India’s regional airlines, focusing on comfort and efficiency through the modern Embraer fleet.
