US companies want to install more than 3 GWh of battery storage – pv magazine International

With rising electricity demand and falling solar prices, U.S. companies are investing in record levels of solar and energy storage to power operations and offset their emissions.

The Solar Energy Industries Association’s (SEIA) ninth annual Solar Means Business report noted that U.S. companies had reported more than 3 GWh of contracted battery storage as of the first quarter of 2024, which is expected to come online by 2029.

The document also reported that the companies’ energy storage consumption exceeded 1.8 GWh and the companies had added nearly 40 GW of solar power generation capacity.
