BREMEN, Germany, November 21, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Representatives from DSI Aerospace, a provider of high-performance electronics and storage systems for aerospace applications, and Frontgrade Technologies, the provider of ultra-reliable, radiation-safe solutions for the defense, commercial and civil industries, spoke at the Space Tech Expo signed an agreement to develop the SpaceStor 2TB Mass Memory Unit signed by Frontgrade. After DSI completes development of the MMU, Frontgrade will handle assembly and testing at its facility in Colorado, USA, and serve as SpaceStor’s exclusive distributor in North America.

Under this recently signed agreement, Frontgrade will combine its 60 years of aerospace experience with DSI’s proven expertise in flash memory controller IP and complete storage hardware. The SpaceStor MMU is designed to meet the demanding requirements of today’s space environments and missions where secure data storage is critical. This radiation-resistant MMU provides a flexible, low-power, and cost-effective data storage solution for the most demanding environments.

David Meyouhas, Vice President of Product Management at Frontgrade, and Elias Hashem, Chief Executive Officer at DSI Aerospace, were welcomed at the signing ceremony by Bremen’s Mayor Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte, Bremen’s Senator for Economic Affairs, Ports and Transformation Kristina Vogt and Dr. Walther Pelzer, Director General of the German Space Agency at DLR, accompanied.

“By bringing together Frontgrade’s extensive subsystem and flash expertise with DSI’s proven storage solutions, we can provide our customers with the next generation of high-performance storage devices.” “These are required to ultimately support the full spectrum of missions from LEO to GEO and beyond,” says Meyouhas. “We look forward to revolutionizing the MMU market with the launch of a 2 terabyte, low SWAP-C product in North America.

The SpaceStor MMU is based on a combination of field-proven software, firmware and hardware elements with roots in aerospace that enable a powerful and scalable space-ready storage solution.

Hashem added: “We are very pleased to enter into an agreement with such an established partner in the North American market.” Together we can look back on decades of experience and we will incorporate our extensive knowledge of cutting-edge solutions into Frontgrade’s SpaceStor – developed in Germany and made in the USA.”
