Man threatened to kill partner and her baby

A man who repeatedly attacked and threatened to kill his partner and their baby has been jailed.

According to police, Reece Marshall’s months of abuse came to light after the woman reported that he was at her home in Ripley, Derbyshire, on November 16, 2023 and threatened her with a hammer.

On a previous occasion, the 34-year-old attacked her “so brutally” that he broke her kidney and rib.

He was sentenced to 15 months in prison at Derby Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and harassment causing fear of violence.

Marshall, of Herries Road, Sheffield, was also handed a restraining order banning him from any contact with the woman for five years.

Det Con Joseph Collard, of Derbyshire Police, said: “Marshall’s behavior towards his partner was simply terrible.”

“He left her in constant fear for her life and that of her baby.

“She has been controlled and subjected to brutal attacks on more than one occasion and I hope that after Marshall’s incarceration she is now able to look to the future.”
