Sales crisis, discount battle and mass recalls: the stars of the German auto industry appear to be struggling. Mercedes sold almost a third fewer electric cars in the third quarter than in the same period last year. The exit from combustion engines took place in the summer: the Stuttgart-based company will continue its zigzag course between gasoline, diesel, battery and hybrid vehicles. BMW will also build fuel cell cars from 2028. Are the German premium brands getting bogged down or, worse yet, losing touch with e-mobility?
