Viewers continue to flock away from Morning Joe as the hosts at Mar-a-Lago fret about “kissing the ring.”

MSNBC viewers continue to donate Morning Joe the cold shoulder follows the revelation Hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski traveled to Mar-a-Lago to meet with President-elect Donald Trump.

The steep ratings decline comes at the worst possible time for the morning talk show. Parent company Comcast reported on Wednesday announced that it spun off most of NBCUniversal’s cable programming as part of rampant cord-cutting – including cable news channels MSNBC and CNBC.

A representative for MSNBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

According to Nielsen, the four-hour broadcast of Morning Joe drew just 680,000 total viewers on Tuesday, a 12 percent decline from Monday’s broadcast. Additionally, the show averaged just 86,000 viewers in the coveted advertising group of adults ages 25 to 54, also down 12 percent from the previous day.

Compared to average viewership for 2024, Joe’s tomorrow Total viewership fell 38 percent on Tuesday and 37 percent in the main demo. Tuesday was also the third lowest Morning Joe Broadcast of the year. This continues continues the slide That began the moment Scarborough and Brzezinski announced Monday that they had recently sat down with Trump to “reopen communications.”

The moment the couple opened Monday’s show with the dramatic announcement that they would seek to mend tensions with the new president after years of describing him as a threat to democracy and a “fascist,” crowds flocked MSNBC’s devoted Trump opponents in the country changed the channel.

While it’s typical for the show to see its audience grow throughout the morning, Morning Joe lost viewers immediately after the announcement. During the 6 a.m. block, the show averaged 839,000 total viewers and 113,000 in the 25-54 age group. However, over the next hour, total viewership dropped to 694,000, falling 38 percent in the demo.

Amid intense backlash from viewers and criticism equally, some bashed the hosts “disgusting sign of respect in advance” while we accuse them of being “Double Agents” the MSNBC stars have rejected the criticism. “I saw for the first time what a massive disconnect there is between social media and the real world because we were inundated all day with calls from people literally from all over the world – all very positive, very supportive,” Scarborough said the viewers on Tuesday.

“They need FEMA at this point — this is the extent of the disaster they have caused,” said a rival network executive told Media reporter Oliver Darcy on the chaos Morning Joe has to clean up with his audience. Even some MSNBC colleagues criticized the stars “Cowardice,” with host Katie Phang tweeting: “Normalizing Trump is a bad idea. Period.”

In the meantime, Sources told CNN that the primary motivation for Brezinski and Scarborough’s Mar-a-Lago visit was their fear of MAGA retaliation. “According to two sources with direct knowledge of the matter, Scarborough and Brzezinski were credibly concerned that they would face government and legal harassment from the new Trump administration,” Brian Stelter reported.

Pucks Dylan Byers added that the couple’s fears that Trump would seek revenge “became far more acute” when MAGA hotshot Matt Gaetz was appointed attorney general. Especially since former Trump chief strategist Steve Bannon immediately bragged that Gaetz would take action against her network for trying to “destroy” the new president.

Brzezinski and Scarborough “are petrified of retaliation and of Gaetz launching an investigation” into the baseless conspiracy theory that Scarborough murdered an intern in 2001, Byers said. After Trump’s once cozy relationship with the MSNBC power couple deteriorated following his first election victory, the new president peddled again and again the story that got out of hand – apparently on urge by Gaetz.

Although Joe’s tomorrow The recent ratings woes may be somewhat self-inflicted; MSNBC as a whole has seen an exodus of dejected viewers since Trump’s election victory. Last week, the station posted its lowest ratings in 25 years in the key 25-54 demo and lost 50 percent of its audience compared to the rest of 2024. While viewership has increased at its MAGA competitor Fox News rose to record levelsMSNBC’s primetime lineup only averaged 684,000 total viewers last week.

Additionally, Comcast’s decision to move MSNBC and other slowly dying cable channels into a separate company has left many MSNBC employees behind worried about their future – including Joe and Mika.

“I could be completely wrong: We could all be fired in a year,” Scarborough quipped Wednesday. “Or tomorrow,” Brzezinski added.
