Here are our favorite new food spots in Leeds

Prepare to be hungry…

With so many options on your doorstep, it can be difficult to know where to grab a quick lunch or dinner with a flatmate in Leeds. We are all guilty of always returning to our favorite places. Here are our top five new restaurants breaking the habit…

Boojum

Best described as Mexican Subway, Boojum makes its own burritos in the best way possible.

The nachos are a perfect balance of cheesy and crunchy, not too oily like some find in other Mexican restaurants.

Located nine minutes from the University of Leeds campus and just five minutes from Beckett City campus, there’s no excuse not to pop in for a quick but filling lunch.

Flat iron

Flat Iron opened at the end of November last year and has been serving the people of Leeds great steaks at affordable prices for almost a year!

With Leeds lucky enough to be the first place in the north to welcome the restaurant, the menu features succulent steaks from just £14.

After your free popcorn, it’s entirely up to you whether you choose homemade beef chips or crispy bone marrow and garlic puree. Either way you are in for a treat.

And the perfect end to the meal is one of their fantastic Tahitian vanilla soft serve with chocolate shavings. And the best part? You get it for free with your meal. At the end, just trade in your silver hatchet!

Underground Bakery

Following the success of their first bakery in Otley, Underground Bakery decided to expand and opened their first town center location on Call Lane in May.

From the giant pain au chocolat and almond croissants to the innovative cruffins (a hybrid of croissants and muffins) and flavored sourdough, there is something to suit every taste.

Underground Bakery is a small operation with owners Ashley and Marcus, two of only three involved in baking. Ashley is the pastry chef, while Marcus is responsible for the incredible bread, which he makes with his own sourdough that’s over 30 years old!

In addition to the bakery’s staples, there are constantly changing weekend specials and weekly changing cruffin flavors. Previous flavors include raspberry cheesecake, black forest cake and lemon meringue. With their deliciously crunchy, sugar-coated outside and buttery inside (plus that incredible filling), they’re the perfect pick-me-up. The bakery is also currently accepting requests for new flavors in a recent Instagram post.

ThatZiki

The perfect place to recharge your batteries after a long shopping trip, ThatZiki began serving Greek food to weary shoppers and hungry lunch-goers this summer at its new location in Trinity Kitchen.

It’s a tough choice between a gyro or a gyro box, but whatever you choose, it’s sure to satisfy your Greek food cravings.

The bread is crispy, the meat is juicy and the fries are seasoned to perfection.

With a menu that includes halloumi, pork and chicken, as well as a list of sauces that’s sure to make you think, you’ll want to give your lunch enough time to make a decision.

Farmhouse

With the festive menu opening to the public today, now is the perfect time to book a table at the Farmhouse.

The menu includes festive Benedict, apple strudel, French toast, chocolate orange pancakes and a chicken burger with turkey, stuffing and pigs in blankets.

As for drinks, it’s a tough choice between the peach cobbler martini or the dragonfruit guava margarita.

So if you’re looking for a fun Christmas dinner with your flatmates before you all head back home, look no further than Farmhouse’s succulent bottomless brunch, served from 2pm every day!
