TMC demands Modi respond on Adani bribery allegations | Kolkata News

Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress raised questions about the possible involvement of the BJP-led government and demanded a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after US authorities filed charges against Gautam Adani in a bribery and cheating case.
TMC Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale posted on The Indian government monitors the banking system intensively (and the average citizen has to do KYC multiple times). Was this “government official” just a single point of contact? The $250 million bribe also went to Modi, BJP, ED officials and others. How big is your “share” in it?”
TMC general secretary Kunal Ghosh said there were earlier reports of irregularities in the group and such allegations were not only a disgrace to the corporation but a disgrace to the entire nation. “The businessman is known for his closeness to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi ji should make a statement on the issue,” Ghosh told reporters.
“This is the legacy of Modi and BJP – running the largest global kleptocracy. Selling India’s resources and infrastructure to a corrupt crony at the expense of taxpayers and the poor. Investigations by the FBI, Department of Justice and US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have accused not only Adani but also India’s government, regulators etc. of a rotten system,” wrote Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra on X.
In another post, she wrote, “Silence from both Bhakts and Adani. Are you waiting for Modiji to call Donald Trump to sort out the issue?”
