The Group of 77 plus China (G-77 + China), a United Nations coalition that advocates for the economic interests of developing countries, is calling on developed economies at COP29 to commit at least $500 billion per year to 2030 to provide climate financing for poorer countries. “We need a headline number to really determine whether we are making progress,” Adonia Ayebare, Uganda’s permanent representative to the United Nations, told delegates in Baku.
