Judge convicts man in quadruple shooting at Springfield motel in 2014

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – A judge sentenced a Springfield man to four life sentences without parole for the 2014 shooting deaths of four people at a Springfield motel.

In September, a jury convicted Scott Goodwin-Bey. The jury deliberated for almost two days.

Springfield police officers tied Goodwin-Bey to a gun used to kill Trevor Fantroy, Lewis Green, Danielle Keyes and Christopher Freeman in Room 149 of the Economy Inn on North Glenstone Avenue in November 2014. A witness told police he played dead in the motel room during the incident. Investigators believe Goodwin-Bey killed them because he thought they would tell police about his drug use.

The Greene County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against him in February 2015 in connection with those deaths. A prosecutor dropped the charges in December 2016 after a judge ruled against ballistics evidence linking him to the gun used in the shooting. The prosecutor refiled the case in 2018.
