Coach Vinzenz Loistl: “We don’t look at the table”

Winter is creeping up and threatening to throw the football calendar into disarray. In the short term, today’s national league game between FC SF Schwaig and SV Pullach (7.30 p.m.) could also be affected. “I will play,” says SVP coach Vinzenz Loistl, hoping that the tournament will stay. And that despite the clear signs. Because while his team’s subscription to the penultimate place continues after two recent defeats, Schwaig took the top of the table last weekend with a 2-0 win in Wasserburg and gained something more on Tuesday with a 5-0 win in the catch-up game against FC Schwabing dropped by the pursuers. “This is a top team. “They are right at the forefront,” says Loistl.

His assessment can be supported by impressive figures. Schwaig suffered its only defeat 3-0 in the first leg against Wasserburg, after which it remained unbeaten 18 times. In the last seven games, FC only conceded one goal, but they not only have the best defense with 16 goals, but also the most successful attack with 54 goals, especially thanks to Raffael Ascher, last season’s top scorer, with 16 goals and Leon Roth, who scored four of his 17 goals against Schwabing.

“We need luck and we need a good day,” says Loistl, who recommends a special approach to his team: “Don’t look at the table. We approach it more like a cup game between the lower-class team and the upper-class team. And why shouldn’t we create a surprise?” With the David versus Goliath situation in mind, the hope is that at some point we can act more freely. “And it’s not like Schwaig is a professional team, but two regional league teams are still playing against each other.”

Because of regular goalkeeper Leopold Bayerschmidt’s red card suspension, Loistl will have to rely on the young Philipp Reisinger in goal until the winter break. “I have no concerns about that, he has done very well so far,” said the coach, who is also missing Josef Burghard for professional reasons and Noah Kotb for health reasons. Mark Zettl’s appointment is in jeopardy.
