We will not give in to pressure”: Netanyahu responds to ICC arrest warrants

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the recent arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court (ICC), calling the action a “black day in the history of nations.”

Netanyahu criticized the ICC for what he called a “moral failure” that undermines the natural right of democracies to defend themselves against “homicidal terrorism.”

“This is a moral bankruptcy that violates the natural right of democracies to defend themselves,” Netanyahu said, expressing his strong disapproval of the ICC’s decision. He described the court as an “enemy of humanity.”

Netanyahu particularly criticized the decision’s perceived “anti-Semitic” undertones and claimed it represented an attempt to deter Israel from exercising its legitimate right to self-protection. He pointed out a paradox in the accusations against Israel, citing that “97% of Gazans have been vaccinated against polio thanks to Israeli efforts.” This statistic, he argued, undermines claims of genocide and reflects Israel’s humanitarian contributions.

“No outrageous anti-Israel decision will stop us – nor will I – from continuing to defend our country in every way possible. We will not give in to pressure,” Netanyahu said, emphasizing his commitment to Israel’s security and resilience to international scrutiny.

The Prime Minister thanked the United States for its support. He also thanked “friends of Israel around the world” who warned that the ICC ruling could have “serious consequences” for the court and its staff.
