Kevin McKidd thanks the cast and crew of Grey’s Anatomy after the loss of his father Neil.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the 51-year-old actor thanked his co-stars for giving him time to grieve following his father’s death last month.

“My love for these fine, smart, talented, passionate, generous and above all kind people cannot be expressed in words,” he wrote alongside a photo of him with his co-stars Niko Terho, Harry Shum Jr., Alexis Floyd, Midori Francis and Adelaide Kane. “You really got me through filming tonight’s episode of @greysabc.”

“The entire cast and crew rallied around me at this time in my life and gave me support and made it possible to carry on,” he added.

McKidd, who also directed the Nov. 21 episode, further explained why the storyline — which follows the death of Mika Yasuda’s (Midori Francis) sister Chloe (Julia Rose) — was particularly poignant for him amid his personal tragedy.

“The themes of grief, love, acceptance and kindness in tonight’s episode somehow merged with my experience of losing my father during filming,” he shared.

He also gave special thanks to showrunner Meg Marinis, who made it possible for him to “travel home to my family and reschedule,” and to Debbie Allen, who “stepped in and helped me for the few days of filming that I was away.” had to be, had my back free”.

McKidd ended his message by dedicating the episode to his late father, saying, “Even though none of us (except maybe Shonda ;)) own an episode of our show, I would still like to humbly dedicate my portions of today’s episode personally,” my cheeky , wonderful and fun-loving father, Neil McKidd.”

“Enjoy it and keep the people you love and… call your parents on FaceTime or WhatsApp if you’re lucky enough to still have them,” he added.

McKidd announced his father’s death on social media on October 24.

“Heartbroken today but grateful for the years of love and laughter we all had together,” he wrote. “Thank you for making mom so happy during our 56 years together. I love you, Dad, always.”

The post included a snap of his father smiling at the camera, a black and white photo of his parents together and his father sitting in a garden. The final picture showed McKidd in a kilt next to Neil and his mother Kathleen.

McKidd’s Grey’s Anatomy Co-stars expressed their condolences in the comments section.

“Thoughts and prayers for you and your entire family,” Jason George shared.

Anthony Hill added: “We love you Kev 🙏🏾❤️.”
