Bakersfield man sentenced to more than three years in prison in child molestation case

A Bakersfield man was sentenced to more than three years in prison after pleading no contest to possessing items depicting a minor engaging in sexual activity and having contact with minors with the intent to commit a sexual offense commit.

Toby Lemons, of Bakersfield, was arrested in December 2023 on charges related to possession of child sexual abuse material after his home on East Brundage Lane was searched pursuant to a search warrant.

The investigation was conducted by Bakersfield police officers, personnel from the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, the United States Secret Service and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

According to Kern County Superior Court, Lemons pleaded no contest to possessing items depicting minors engaging in sexual acts and contacting minors with the intent to commit sexual offenses. Four other charges were dismissed.

He was sentenced on Thursday to three years and eight months in prison.

He has accumulated a credit of 624 days.
