Austin man, 84, accused of killing roommate and their dog

AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) – Police say they arrested an elderly man in Austin after he killed his roommate and her dog, stole her credit cards and planned to flee the country.

Jack Moore, 84, is charged with first-degree murder.

According to police, on November 18, at approximately 1:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6900 block of Bryn Mawr Drive for reports of a fatality.

When officers arrived on scene, officers said they found a dead person, later identified as Linda Mlsna, and a dead dog inside the apartment.

Police said an investigation revealed Mlsna’s roommate, Moore, was not at the apartment and his whereabouts were unknown.

According to police, it was later discovered that Moore had used Mlsna’s credit cards to make fraudulent purchases after her death.

Authorities located Moore and arrested him on an unrelated warrant.

When questioning Moore, police said he confessed to killing Mlsna and her dog, stealing her credit cards and planning to flee the country.

Moore is lodged in the Travis County Jail. He has no commitment set at this time.
