Paderborn CDU criticizes plans: Heide Center is not being taken into account enough

Paderborn. In the opinion of the CDU parliamentary group, the Heide Center in Paderborn’s Stadtheide receives too little attention in the retail and center concept, which is currently being evaluated. The Christian Democrats are now addressing the area as part of a planned local supply center, which could be built just around 500 meters away on the corner of Dr.-Rörig-Damm and Schwabenweg.

“The Heide Center has existed for decades and plays a powerful supply role for the Stadtheide,” says the CDU councilor responsible for this district, Tilman Pöppel, according to the press release.

Although the Heide Center is recognized in its role, “it was not even mentioned in the historical reports or now in the draft evaluation,” complains the CDU councilor Georg Ortwein, who is based in the Stadtheide. “This is far from the reality on the ground and so unacceptable.”

CDU calls for reports for the Heide Center area

According to André Springer, CDU member of the Committee for Urban Development, Building and Conversion, the present report gives the impression “as if the established areas of the Heide Center did not even exist”.

That’s why his group is submitting a motion for the next committee meeting in which the administration is instructed to obtain “a specific expert opinion from the area around the Heide Center” in addition to the current draft concept – also in view of the fact that this will be the latest is necessary in connection with a future development plan process.
