Biafra: Simon Ekpa arrested in Finland

Simon Ekpa, a Finnish-Nigerian separatist agitator, has been arrested in Finland for alleged involvement in terrorist activities.

According to BBC Pidgin, the self-proclaimed prime minister of the government-in-exile of the Republic of Biafra was remanded in custody by the Päijät-Häme District Court on suspicion of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent.

Additionally, according to The Sun, Finland’s Central Criminal Investigation Department confirmed the arrest in a statement on its website on Thursday, saying four people had been arrested on suspicion of terrorist offenses.

Police said the main suspect was arrested “on suspicion of publicly inciting an offense with terrorist intent,” while four others were arrested “on suspicion of financing a terrorist offense.”

“Claims will be heard today, November 21, in the Päijät-Häme District Court,” the statement continued.

There have been calls for the separatist to be arrested after he was allegedly involved in the sit-at-home strikes that have relatively paralyzed economic activity in the southeast.
