Heads are rolling after the horrific fire at a luxury building owned by billionaire Dolphins boss Stephen Ross

There was a fire and now there is shooting.

Last week there was a major fire at Set, the ultra-luxury apartment building in Hudson Yards owned by Related Companies, the company owned by billionaire Miami Dolphins owner and development god Stephen Ross.

Now Page Six learns that the 44-story building’s general manager was thrown soot into the air after management struggled with the way it communicated with wealthy residents during the crisis.

Executives have described the building as “a five-star hotel crossed with a luxury rental crossed with a tech workspace” and, according to the New Yorker magazine, it offers amenities such as “communal tables, Zoom rooms, concierges, housekeeping, infusions.” , after-work drinks, fridge restocking and dry cleaning” and a pool deck “for DJ parties”.

But last week the site caught the attention of New Yorkers not so much for its groundbreaking virtues as for the towering thick column of black smoke rising from its roof.

A fire apparently broke out around 11 a.m. on Thursday during maintenance work on the building’s cooling tower. The transaction was carried out quickly, no one was injured and it was said that there was no “residual damage” to the building. According to ABC Eyewitness News, around 80 firefighters were on scene.

But one local resident told us that the building didn’t bother to inform residents about its latest daring innovation – a pop-up rock on the roof.

“There was no alarm system (at least) in the basement,” said one resident, who told us he only found out about the fire because he “noticed everyone in the windows (of the building across the street) looking up looked and showed.” .”

Even the group chat spread hot rumors before the building got around to making an announcement. “People wrote to us saying there was a building burning in Hudson Yards,” said our hellish insider, “and we said, ‘We know – we are right in the middle!

The building later sent an email to residents about the “confusing” experience and told them that communication had been “poor” during the fire.

Then another message was sent out Wednesday saying the building’s general manager was “no longer the general manager effective immediately.”

We were told that the rule in high-rise buildings is for people to stay in their apartments unless the fire directly affects the unit they are in, so even if an alarm goes off, residents have not been asked to leave would be.

Ross – owner of the Miami Dolphins and a net worth of about $10 billion – also built the famed Time Warner Center at Columbus Circle and the Gehry-designed Grand LA and was at the forefront of the Hudson Yards development.

In July, the Post reported that his company, Related Companies, was planning a new skyscraper on Madison Avenue.

A representative for the building declined to comment on the firing.
